Spring in the San Antonio Valley
I spent a couple of hours walking through the hills this morning. The wildflowers are still in full force, as are the local critters. The dogs disturbed a large family of wild pigs, who hurried off as soon as they saw us coming. I didn't see any snakes in the brush, but there have been plenty sunning themselves by the house. Not too many rattlesnakes this year. Mostly gopher snakes, which I quite like having around. We also have two beautiful bald eagles nesting on our neighbor's property right now and often see them hunting as we walk in the mornings.
After the walk, I took Star down to the Twin Vines vineyard to finish up suckering the vines. The vineyard looks wonderful, with soft grasses and red clover growing between the rows. Lots of lady bugs and spiders about, which is good. The weather is warming up and the surrounding hills are starting to turn from green to gold.
