Summer Prep
The sun is shining again in the San Antonio Valley and it's time to start irrigation in the Twin Vines vineyard. We irrigate in blocks, with each plant receiving water once per week (more if necessary). As the vines take moisture from the deeper roots, the irrigation cycle is carefully monitored and fairly extended--usually 8 hrs. We tested the system this morning and everything seems to be working perfectly.
We still have plenty of wildflowers and good bugs hanging around, which is great news as they play an important role in an organic vineyard.
The vines themselves are healthy and starting to flower. This will be the first harvest from Twin Vines; it will produce a Bordeaux-style blend of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, so we're eagerly anticipating the results.
