Escafeld Vineyards Newsletter,
September 2005
Harvest Update:
Harvest is upon us. This time of year always
brings with it a frenzy of activity, excitement
and anticipation. We'll be increasing our
production this year, and will also be adding a
Merlot/Cabernet meritage. More information
about this new wine will be posted to our
Vineyard Diary, and we'll keep you updated
in subsequent newsletters. In the meantime,
below is the latest news about awards,
new releases, events and
special offers at Escafeld
Vineyards.
Award Updates:
We're thrilled to announce that Escafeld
recently received two international medals at
the Indy International Wine Competition. One of
the largest wine competitions in the US, the
Indy International brought in over 3,600 wines
from around the world, which were reviewed by
80 judges over a three day period. Escafeld
brought home a Bronze medal for our
2002 Merlot, and a Bronze medal for our
2002 Zinfandel.
In June, we took the Gold Medal for our
2002 Zinfandel, and Bronze for our
2002 Merlot at the Lone Star International
Wine Competition.
Pouring Events:

August was a busy month for tasting events.
The 13th Annual
Winemakers' Celebration in Monterey was
great fun, as was the unique
Wind & Wine Festival in Soledad. Thanks
to everyone who came along to these events to
meet us!
Our next public pouring events are coming up
in November. We will be pouring during the
Great Wine Escape at the Marriot hotel in
Monterey, plus we are planning to pour at one
or two other local events. More details will be
posted on our website as we get closer to the
dates.
Special Offers:
To celebrate
harvest, we're offering a special 20%
discount off our award winning 2002 Merlot
when purchased through our website!
When placing your order, just type the
coupon code "harvestmedal" in the redeem
coupon box to receive your discount. This
discount will remain valid until the end of
November.
Grown on own-rooted vines, this
traditionally hand crafted Merlot has a rich
garnet color and velvety dark fruit flavors
with black cherry, strawberries and creamy
vanilla. The unique climate of the San Antonio
Valley provides our vines with summer daytime
temperatures 10-20 degrees warmer than the
surrounding areas, with a cooling nighttime
influence, and a little morning fog, coming
over the Santa Lucia range from the Pacific
Ocean. This gives us a daily heat cycle of 50
degrees, producing the exceptional fruit that
we hand harvest for our award winning
wines.
New Releases:
Our 2002 Zinfandel is sold out!
Fortunately, our 2003 Zinfandel and Merlot are
due to be released very soon, and we are now
taking preorders. Escafeld 2003 Merlot is a
beautifully balanced wine bursting with pure
black cherries and strawberries. At recent
tastings the results were unanimous: 2003 is
our best vintage yet. Preordering is simple,
just e-mail us at info@escafeld.com
with your name, order request and contact
information, and we will reserve your wines and
ship them as soon as they are available.
Escafeld Winewear and
Goodies:
Escafeld
Vineyards T-shirts and art prints are now
available for purchase
online. We'll be adding more items such as
aprons, sweatshirts and corkscrews over the
coming months, so check back often to see
what's new. We will also be reprinting our
postcards next month; these beautiful postcards
are free to newsletter members, so e-mail us at
info@escafeld.com
and we'll send some along.
